Daniela Faas – HCI Implications for SCUBA Diving @ Ignite Ames 2010
Lightning Talk Proposed by: Daniela Faas The world is 70% covered by water. Less than 10% of this living space has been explored by humans. SCUBA diving (Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatuns) allows us to explore some of this fascinating world. SCUBA diving is a fairly safe sport and can be enjoyed by almost most everyone regardless of age or physical fitness. However, there are safety considerations to consider when SCUBA diving; otherwise death is certain. Dive computers can be used as an aid and pose an interesting design challenge for engineers and interface designers. This talk explores some of the human-computer related aspects of SCUBA dive computers and the need for better interface designs.
