You can use this link to locate the 7 dive centers closest to your location.

Since you are in Los Angeles County, you might want to consider getting certified through the LA County Scuba program. LA County was the original USA scuba certification agency started in 1954 by Al Tillman, who went on to form NAUI in 1959. From what I’ve read I think that LA County scuba remains a strong certification program and continues to have high standards for their students.

You can find more info about the LA County program at http://www.lacountyscuba.com/

There is much more to selecting a good instructor/dive center/training agency than simply finding the one that is nearest or cheapest. Here is an article that I think contains a good & unbiased view of things to consider when selecting a scuba instructor: http://www.articlesbase.com/scuba-diving-articles/tips-and-advice-for-choosing-a-scuba-instructor-1156643.html

I used Padi diving it is done online then you go to a certified padi dive shop and take a test. The expensive part is doing the actual dive course with the instructors. Hope you get certified the experience is out of this world and sooo much fun!!!
