Have you used the disk defragmenter lately? Go to the start menu, click all programs==> accessories==> system tools==> disk defragmenter.
It would speed up your computer. This should be done every now and then depending on how much you use the computer. I do it every 2 months. It would take quite a while until it is done, so I would do it before I go to bed, and let it work overnight.

First off, I doubt that your windows folder has anything to do with your slow problem! 2 gigs of data in the windows folder isnt uncommon either! State your problem without trying to be a PC tech and provide details on what you mean by slow. Also let us know how big your C drive is.

buy an external back up drive. 6-try to install any repairing tools and softwares and run them to repair your hard drives problems

7-if nothing usefull , try to backup your files on drive c ,format it and install a new fresh copy of windows xp prefessional typical installation with most common compenets as you need them .
