Yes, but this is also relys on the student and the quality of the instructor. Youngsters sometimes have a short attention span, but are also quick learners. The book work can be done online, but the in-water work should only be taught a qualified professional.

You should get another regulator for safety, you should have a secondary (can save your life!) if someone tells you don’t needed they are wrong. its like saying you can drive with out brakes!
as for the BCD if it deflats inflates and it fits it should be fine

This is in response to joshw… it’s important to take into consideration what we divers call “putting all your eggs in one basket”, having a hoseless wrist computer is great, esp with the advancements in technology today but one should always have at least a backup computer in case of the unlikely event that your primary should fail. I recommend having an air integrated analog depth/spg gauge along side your wrist computer, and of course all divers should have an alternate second stage.

@s030141 a good thing to do if your are fortunate enough is to acclimate your body to these pressures starting a week to a week n a half before diving, usually with an eight foot or deeper pool. try staying underwater for a total of twenty minutes a day, this is how professional divers acclimate.

I went diving by a bridge today with professionals and my daughter freaked out when she saw the stingray. She belives that there are good chances of getting bit out in the ocean. What website will show her that it won’t?
