Was I Hearing an Owl?
I’m currently sitting on my computer, it’s 2:44 am and I heard a noise outside my window. It sounded like a mourning dove but the pattern was wrong and I heard they don’t come out at night. It was sort of like a hoot and I was wondering if anyone knows how I can tell if it was an owl or a dove.
No, it wasn’t my neighbor’s mom. XD
More than likely it was an Owl ,if you live near trees and countryside then there is a good chance it was.

yes its probably an owl. if you hear it 3 nights in a row, someone in the neighborhood is sick and going to die.

It could have been an owl, and I’m willing to bet that it was because of the way you described it, but there are other nocturnal birds that make similar sounds.
I could be because they are nocturnal so if the sun wasn’t shining you would hear it, if you lived near the county side.
Raccoons make a sound similar to owls, might have been an owl, could have been a raccoon.
