Windows Xp Hard Drive on a New Computer.?
I have a new pc coming tommorrow, and i have an old hard drive with windows xp setup just the way i like it. I want to install it on the new pc, and i know i can just flick the old hard dive across. But i want to know if i get the old hard drive installed and get it started up and manage to get into windows xp safe mode. If i then uninstall all the device drivers, chipsets etc is there a good chance it would work with the new pc ?
I know it would be easier to do a reinstall but it would be nice to have everything the way i already have it, plus no reinstalling of games and software and all that.
Thanks.
You should be able to. The big problem is whether there are XP drivers for the new components in the new pc. Good Luck
the old windows xp will NOT work on a new computer, in safe mode, or any other mode. Sorry
wont work , your old xp is registered to the motherboard of your old system , no way around it ….. you cant even do a reinstall either… new hard drive with a fresh install [new xp]….i know a legit site that has oem xp discs for $70 thats how i did mine when i built a new system, [beats $200 plus]….. you might be able to contact microsoft and tell them that you had to replace your motherboard in your computer and you need to reinstall xp , theyll have to give you a new activation code …. i know people that have done that and people that they wouldnt do it for … 50-50 chance
